Presentation on School’s Development Unit and the School’s Improvement Initiative Activities

Dr Jonathan Clarke will present the Department of Statistical Science seminar with a presentation on School’s Development Unit and the School’s Improvement Initiative Activities.

Dr Jonathan Clark is the Director of the Schools Development Unit (SDU) in the School of Education at UCT. Since 2011 he has headed up the Schools Improvement Initiative (SII), which is one of the university's four strategic initiatives located in the office of the Vice-Chancellor. Jonathan is a secondary school science teacher by training, having taught for many years in both rural and township schools

Prior to joining UCT in 2007 he was principal of the Centre of Science and Technology (or COSAT as it is known) in Khayelitsha. COSAT has the distinction of being the only township school in the country where all students take mathematics, physical sciences and information technology (IT) and it is also one of the SII's five partner schools in the township.
